How to use IndustryHub
IndustryHub is a free directory of producers, factories, co-ops and official registries, built from public government and open data. It helps you find who makes what, check benchmark prices and see where each record comes from. Listings are not endorsements. You are responsible for checking every supplier before you buy.
1. Find suppliers
- Type a product, material or company name in the search bar, or pick a category on the home page.
- Narrow results with the filters: category, country, source, record status and minimum reputability score (for example 70 and above).
- Sort any column by clicking its heading. Sort by Score to see the most completely verified records first.
- Open a score to see its breakdown. Use the Record or Website link to go to the official source.
- Share or bookmark the page address. It keeps your search and filters.
2. Benchmark prices before you negotiate
- Open the buyer guide on a category page to see benchmark prices from official sources such as the World Bank, IMF and FAO, with a price history chart.
- Use the compare view to see all benchmarks for a category side by side, including recent change and range.
- Estimated ranges are labelled "Estimate, not a quote". Each shows its method and source. They describe traded reference grades at named markets, so real offers will differ with grade, origin, volume, packaging, freight and payment terms.
- Where no official benchmark exists, IndustryHub says so and shows no estimate. Ask several suppliers for written quotes.
3. Verify every supplier
- Follow the official source link and confirm the company name, registration and status match what the supplier tells you.
- Ask for business licences, export licences, quality and product certificates, and recent test reports. Check certificates with the body that issued them.
- Request samples, and consider an independent inspection before shipment.
- Use secure payment terms and be careful with requests to change bank details.
- The reputability score measures how complete and verifiable a record is. It is not a rating of quality, honesty or reliability, and it is not an endorsement. How the score works.
4. Compliance notes
- Rough diamonds: trade only with Kimberley Process certificates through participating countries.
- Protected species: many plants, animal products and timber species need CITES permits. Check the species on Species+ and with your national CITES authority.
- Defence and dual-use goods: arms, military items and many advanced technologies need export licences and may be barred for some destinations or buyers. Check your country's export control rules and sanctions lists.
- Medical devices and medicines: products usually need regulator approval in the country of sale, for example US FDA registration or a Health Canada licence. Confirm the product, not just the company, is authorised.
- Everything else: import duties, product safety rules, labelling and sanctions vary by country. Confirm with a licensed customs broker or a lawyer before you commit.
